Planning: Location Planning

For my music video I have thought of quite a few different areas which I feel well be good to be included in my music video. As my music video is getting the message of childhood and how the two artists miss theirs I will also have to try and portray these messages through my choice of locations. Below will be a few images where I have decided to use as my locations.

There first image I will use is Brambleside Park. the reason why I have chosen this is because it clearly shows a place in which people will portray with kids so this fits in with the message im trying to portray and also it fits in with an idea I am putting on top of my idea of portraying childish images but from start to the finish the locations will slowly differ to place where people progress to as they grew up trough out there childhood. A few images of the park are below.

Another location I wish to use is Kettering rugby club this is because this is quite a popular location to parties and such so I feel this will be quite an ideal place to record my actors whilst a party is happening so that I can portray the childhood image I am wishing to get across. below is also some pictures of that location.

The third location I plan on using is a skate park. This is where i feel i will get the most shots from because of the location i can do a lot more with it. It will be ideal for getting shots. This will be a good place to get establishing shots and a lot of close ups with quick cuts to the beat from people doing tricks on bikes and skateboards and such. This location will be quite an important location I feel.

Another location I am thinking will be my back garden. I think this will be suitable to finish off the music video with them sitting around a table or having a BBQ and just with friends. Below is a couple pictures of this location.

Planning: Props planning

Planning which props that i will include in my video took more thought then the other planning. The reason why is because it is not something that usually people take great consideration into when planning. Throughout my video i will not be using a lot of props and relying on my characters quite a lot. Although one of the props i wish to use is a skateboard. The reason why i want to use a skateboard is because i think this will fit in very well with the image of being a child in a skatepark, also i think this will be good to get different types of shots for and improve the standard of my video.

Another prop that i wish to include is a mobile phone. Although i do not wish to include the phone during the playing of the actual song i think it would be good if i had a small introduction in which the performer in the video will look at his phone and then press play on the track of the song i am going to be using. This i think will be quite and effective opening to draw the audiences in.

Another good prop i feel will be good to emphasis the meaning of the youth being represented is my performers smoking. This is a controversial prop that i am thinking of because it could give an negative effect on my music video. Although if i do include it in my video i think it will be good to use as a ending to the video where the performers blow smoke into the cameras and then fades out and finishes will be quite and effect ending. 

Planning: Costume

As i have been playing for my costumes that my artists will be wearing there has been a few factors that i had to take into consideration. One of the factors i had to take into consideration is that i want my actors to be dressed so they are suitable representing the target audience that i wish to target, Which is mainly teens and younger adults. Also i want to give clear indication that i am also trying to represent the artists that i have chosen "Chiddy Bang". Below is tan image showing the type of clothing that i would like to have being shown in my video. The clothing that is in the picture is a Snap back, A plain white top, a jacket or a hoody, Skinny dark jeans and either some type of trainers or converse. This clothing i feel will give a good impression of what i wish to portray. Top left is an image of my chosen artist that i will try to stick to when picking my costume.

Planning: Casting

Below is a prezi presentation for the casting of my Music video for Chiddy Bang - Opposite of Adults. You may notice as going through the presentation that all the candidates are Male this is because they will fit in with the lyrics of the song if they are and will seem odd if a female was doing these lyrics. Planning: Using Green screen and lip Syncing

In today's lesson i used a clip which had green screen on it for a girl lip syncing to a music video Adele - Rolling in the deep. For this i had to do everything that i had mentioned in the post below as well as this i had to match the clip of the girl singing to the music video playing in the background. Once i had done this i had to the use the razor tool on the actual music video playing in the background to get rid of the clips which show Adele in. Below is the Music video with my edits on it. 

The ways this task will be very useful to me is that from the skills that i have been learning from using the green screen it will give me the option to use it for my music video and give me a more wider variety of ideas i will now be able to use. Through out the use of learning how use how to lip sync i have learnt that it will be easier for me and look more effective if i use the lip syncing during a period of time when the lyrics for the song are quite slow pace this way it will be easier for edit to and make it look better also it will make it easier for the person who will be performing in my music video.

Planning: Learning how to use green screen

In todays lesson we were taught how to record using greenscreen and how to edit with it using adobe premier pro. First we were talking about thew gree scree and how the sheet should be crease free to get the best effect when recrded so it is easier for the software to erase the back grounds. Then we also talked about how the lighting was important so that shadows do not occur which would also make it quite difficult for the software to be able to delete the backgroung. Once we had the desired clip infront of the green screen it was quite simple to make it work using premier pro. All i had to do was import the clip which i have explained in a previous post on how to do. Then once the clip was imported i would simply drag it ontop of the clip or picture i would like to be in the background of that clip. Once this was done i used the Ultra key effect and dragged it onto the clip which had the green screen on. Once dragged i always able to click on a pipet function which would erase the green screen. Planning: Adobe Premiere Pro Music Video Editing Challenge

In the last two lessons i was given an audio track and multiple different clips for the music song Macklemore - Wings. Once i had imported it i and started to begin editing i noticed how difficult it was especially as i had not recorded the clips and didn't know what clips were to go where. I began by looking through the clips and listening to the lyrics once i started to put the clips in i started by putting in clips whilst cutting to the beat, this is when the audio beat begins to change i would match this by also changing the clip, from doing this i think that i did it pretty will but come across some problems such as the clips where sometimes to short before the beat would change and then i would have small sections where it may be a bit black.

The way i slightly overcome this problem was through the use of video transitions. This would help cut out the amount of time i looked it was black for by adding a dissolve transition so it looked as if that black screen there for a short time was meant to be there. Also through the use of video transitions it makes it look much more professional and engages the user because it isn't just the same transition which would end up getting boring. 

Also whilst learning how to use adobe premier pro i learnt how to add video affects. This were quite interesting to work with because sometimes when adding a clip to an effect not much would change but then i would click on the video effects tab to change the amount of effect it has on the picture making a bigger difference to the video being displayed. 

From working on Adobe premier pro i think it has been very helpful on planning towards working on my project because now i have greater knowledge and not what to do when i am working for my real project.

Planning: Learning how to use adobe premier pro

During todays and yesterdays lesson i learnt how to use Adobe Premier Pro (APP). As you can see from the picture it is me on Premier pro editing. I learnt how to set up a project on premier pro and open existing projects. i learnt how to search through files to find files in which i wish to import onto premier pro so i can use them to edit, Once i imported the files i then learnt how to mark in and mark out on the media file so i can crop out the parts that i wanted to use this helped a lot when combining clips to make one flowing project. I learnt how to insert video and audio transition. I also learnt how to export a video file as a quicktime movie and then have that as a finished piece.





To the right of this text is the quick small video i made when first using premier pro. Below i will show a step by step guide on how to open and use premier pro

STEPS BY STEP GUIDE

First Step - 

Firstly i would open up Adobe Premier Pro and click on to new project as in the picture shown first below, once that has been clicked another screen will pop up such as the second picture below Asking for you to name the project, i named the project "Learning how to use Premier Pro" as you can see

Second Step - 

Once i had entered the required information the premier pro would then load and take me to the screen as shown below. Once this was open i enabled the editing by clicking on to the window tab - work space - and then clicking on editing CS5.5 as you can see below.

 

 Third Step - 

Once i completed that i would then need media files for me to edit with. This was simple as i just went onto file import and then double clicked on the folder/files i wished to use.

Fourth step - 

Once the media was imported i would click on the folder where it was stored and dragged it into the first window which enabled my to look through the clip and mark in/out which parts of the clip i wished to have.

Fifth Step -

 After completing the cropping of the clip i would now drag them down into the sequence box at the bottom and position them in an order which pleased me. A picture below is the sequence for the video i have shown previously above. 

Sixth Step -

 Once the sequence was complete i would then exprt the media as a quick time player. I did this by clicking on to file - Export - Media. For this to work the player bar must be on the media.

Step Seven -

 I would then select quicktime from the drop down in format and then see where it will be saved once happy i clicked export and it was done.

 

Planning: Treatment

Below is a presentation that i created to show a treatment of my music video. Within it i have spoken about ideas of which will be in my music video and a small section about the Mis-en Scene and lyrics and analysis.

Planning: More ideas for my Music Video

Today in one of our media lessons we were discussing what we would include in our music video's and the part that caught my attention was the discussing of "a wow clip". a wow clip is something that catches the audiences attention and something that they will remember throughout the video. Throughout research i have came up with two different type wow clips one of them is what i found when looking at clips on youtube and i found it in a video that included Mr Faiz ft Bilzar and it is a camera wipe, this is a type of camera transition from going to one clip to another and it works really well in my opinion. Below is an example of where it is used (It starts at 1:30 - 1:45 so you don't have to watch the whole video :) ). The main reason for using this as a wow shot is because it is quite creative and fun which i think would be very good to include into my work.




Another clip which i am debating on including in my music video as a wow clip is when there is multiple clips happening at once such as in Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. The reason why i think this would be a good technique is because it will show a lot of skill and make the video more interesting and engaging for the viewers, But the reason why i am not 100% sure about including this clip is because i think it will be very hard to include this technique and keep it to a good standard where it looks professional. Also this technique may not work with my music type as it is quite a face paced song and if multiple clips are included to match the songs flow it could confuse the user so i will have to do more research into music videos that are the same as mine which use this technique. 

Planning: My 60 second pitch

"During my video i think as the song is basically about their childhood i will have to make my video with people in the music video doing things which children would do. One of the ideas for my video would be for them going into a park and playing on the swings or other things that are in the park whilst they and singing the song, another place i am thinking would be good would either be in a paddling pool or a swimming pool which they will be wearing arm bands to make it a more comedic such as Chiddy bang do with their videos, i may also learn how to make the heads a lot bigger but on an normal sized body like Chiddy bang do, during the Verses i will change the clips to be a little more serious but i am still trying to figure out ideas in which i could use for these parts and i know that i will have to record my clips multiple times because the lip syncing will be quite hard to get perfect especially as the lyrics is quite fast paced and the people i choose will have to learn the song.

The picture below is just one of the ideas i might take from the music video i could do this somewhere such as Brambleside or Grafton Park because these are quite suitable and they are local. 

One of the second ideas for my music video will be throughout the music video there could be flashbacks of them doing what they did as children but as the song progress the characters in the music video start to become older and start looking more and more like adults.

Analysis
in my opinion i think that the whole song is about how that Chiddy bang are on the rise within the music industry. Looking just at the chorus i think the message they are trying to portray is that they believe that they are an original group and that they are "trend setters" the reason why i think this is from the line "So fresh how we flow, everybody get their style from us" also from the chorus it is quite obvious that they loved their childhoods and the whole idea of being a child and do not want to become adults and just have fun. Also from the chorus i think that they are trying to emphasis their acheivements from the lyrics "I once was a kid with the other little kids, Now I'm whippin' up shows and 'em fans goin' wild wid us" from this the message i got was that they were just ordinary children but from how hard they have worked you can see how far they have come to be performing to people.

Analysing the first verse the message this is trying to get across is that he is talking about his childhod again and talking about what he did as a child. Also he is talking about how his group has become much more popular by being recognised as the toop search on google this is shown in the lyrics "Now it's Chiddy Bang, google me in the images". Also he is saying about how he is becoming a threat to other artists like him and he is competition to them "I can make these rappers run like a hard drill". Also from the lyrics "But I play a Ron Bergundy I anchor on the track like that" it shows that he feels he dominates on his music as he has compared himself to someone in a film who was very powerful.

Looking into the second verse it is clearly he is trying to insult Asher roth who i would say is on the same level in terms of power in the music industry this could be so that the song gets more recognition or that they are trying to get some sort of response out of Asher Roth. then he begins to rap about how again how he loves being a child and how he is on the rise again

Psychographics - 

This research is research which goes further into depth into the analysis of the consumer to create more detailed profile. this can be done by asking people questions like what their hobbies and interest are.

Visuals and the music relationship?
To start with the visuals of the video are in very effective sync within the music, For example at the start of the video with the violins playing and quite a dull effect coming from the music the visuals maintain black and white images to encourage the feelings that the music is giving off. Also once the music starts to kick in about 1:08 even though their is only text being shown the text is also flashing colors in which is in sync with the back ground beat and as the pace begins to speed up or slow down the visuals will also slow down or speed up maintaining a very good sync. Another good use of the relationship between the two is shown in first verse after the chorus when the visuals would cut to the beat making the flow very smooth. The way the visuals and the flow of the music also work together is through the use of pace and how it is synced, for example to start with the beat is very slow and dull so the video of the little girl and signs is also slow so they do work well together.

Is there any relationships with the lyrics and the visuals?
Once the lyrics start to come the visuals do match as it is the lyrics which are slashing on the screen so it is obvious that they will match. Also another way that they match is when actually visuals of the artists come instead of the lyrics they help amplify the music as they are lip syncing with the music so it works well together also. They ways in watch the lyrics help illustrate the visuals is once the chorus kicks in and the lyrics "all of the lights" drop that when the visuals begin to flash quite a lot so it is clear that they do match together.

What is the importance of the artist in the visuals?
For the artist to be in the video it is quite important that they are shown, the reason why i feel this way is because from them being shown it will portray the image in which the artist want them to get across which is quite sexual when it comes to Rhianna and quite bad sort of behaviour when showing Kanye West and cool image when Kid Cudi is shown. Also from showing the artist it sort of shows which target audince they are going for from the ways they behave and the type of clothing they are wearing and in this case the music is quite mainstream so they are targeting the teens and the younger adults.

Use if voyeurism?
The voyeurism used in this video is no where near discrete. It is clearly shown when Rhianna is shown from the way she is dressed, She is clearly wearing revealing clothes giving a clear view of cleavage and a lot of other body parts. Also voyeurism is shown from the way she is dancing which is shown to be in quite an sexual way and all this is emphasised by the editing when she will appear then disappear.

Does the video have any intertextuality?
The video doe not have use of intertextuality.

Is there any mixture of Narrative and Performance in the video?
In the video there is a mixture of Narrative and performance but it is mainly dominated by the performance. There is a small section in which narrative is shown and that is at the very start when it shows a girl walking around to be shown dull but other then that it is either text or the main artists performing to the music.

In his book Dancing in the Distraction Factory Andrew Goodwin points out characteristics and features that can be found in music videos.

1. Music videos demonstrate genre characteristics.
(e.g. stage performance in metal videos, dance routine for boy/girl band, aspiration in Hip Hop).

2. There is a relationship between lyrics and visuals. The lyrics are represented with images. (either illustrative, amplifying, contradicting).

3. There is a relationship between music and visuals. The tone and atmosphere of the visual reflects that of the music. (either illustrative, amplifying, contradicting).

4. The demands of the record label will include the need for lots of close ups of the artist and the artist may develop motifs which recur across their work (a visual style).

How do i listen to music?

The ways in which i listen to my music is pretty much the same ways in how others listen to their music, for example Youtube is one of the main ways in how i listen to my music because it is so easy to find what you're looking for also it is fast. The ways that i listen to music is mainly dominated through use of the internet but there are other ways in how i listen to my music such as downloading it off websites and then putting them onto my phone so i can listen to them whenever and wherever.

Why and where i listen to my music?

The reason why i listen to my music is purely for the enjoyment and annoying my friends. Also music is great to listen to when with friends because it will put everyone in the same mood and can make the times with them much more enjoyable. Also music is good for just passing time, when i have nothing to do listening to music passes a lot of time. 

where i listen to my music is mainly in my room, i have my speakers and headphones in which i will listen to them off to enhance it. i also like to listen to music when i am at some sort of party, BBQ, gatherings basically i listen to music everywhere i go.                                                                       



The type of music that i like

The type of music that i usually listen to does vary a lot in terms of genres. By this i mean that one day i can go from listening to Hip Hop and RnB with artists such as R Kelly and Usher to other days in which i prefer to listen to genres such as Grime and Dub-step with artists such as Skepta for grime and Mt Eden for dub-step.
